From the early stages of the volleyball season, Sealy Head Volleyball Coach Caroline Owen believed her team this year was ready to do something for the program. The Lady Tigers did leave its mark on the program’s history.

The post-season honors are starting to roll in for the Sealy Lady Tigers after their strong and successful volleyball season. Senior Annabelle Williams was named Offensive MVP for District 25-4A.

Coming into the UIL State Cross Country meet in Round Rock, Sealy Head Cross Country Coach Danielle Eschenburg knew her runners could make a strong showing at the state meet. Mission accomplished.

Knowing that a win gained Sealy a playoff berth, the Tigers came out and took care of business against La Marque and walked away with a relatively easy 54-7 victory. The victory gave Sealy a finish as the fourth seed in the playoffs.

The Faith Academy Knights travelled to Runge ISD for the first round of playoffs to face Benavides and came away with a 74-28 victory. The Knights jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

The Lady Tigers volleyball season came to an end as Sealy dropped a tough four-set match to number one ranked Davenport in Luling last Thursday, Nov. 2.

Dealing with key injuries all season long, the Brazos Cougars saw their football season come to an end last Friday with a 20-10 loss to Boling in the district finale. Brazos ran out to a 10-0 lead over Boling before Bulldogs would score 20 unanswered points to claim the district win.

With a young team returning after gaining valuable experience this year, the Brazos Cougarettes volleyball squad will be ready to make an even better run in the Class 3A playoffs next year. Brazos went up against a tough Anderson- Shiro team in the bi-district round in Columbus last week and dropped a hardfought three set match to the Lady Owls.
