Three members of the Brazos Cougar football team were honored to be placed on the THSCA Academic All State teams. This is considered a big honor that the Texas High School Coach Association places on players recognizing their talent on the field and hardwork in the classroom as well. First team honoree was Colton Richardson (54) and honorable mention honorees included Trey Gaston (4) and Jenson Miles (3).

PFLUGERVILLE - Yes Virginia, the Bellville Brahmas will be playing this Friday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas for the Class 4A Division II state championship. The Brahmas punched their ticket to the state title game last Friday with a thrilling 35-33 victory over Wimberley.

The Bellville Brahmas will play for the Class 4A Division II state title Friday starting at 3 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Participating in the Ganado Tournament this weekend, the Sealy Lady Tigers came away with a 4-0 record and a tournament championship. “The Varsity and junior varsity Lady Tigers traveled to Ganado to compete in the Maiden Varsity & JV tournament over the weekend,” said Sealy Head Girls Basketball Coach Brateicka Mock.

Frustration seems to be the main motivator for the Sealy girls’ soccer team this season, and for good reason. After impressively clinching the district championship last season, the lady Tigers fell short in the regional quarterfinals to Little Cypress-Mauriceville 3-0.

After 15 years as the Sealy boys’ head soccer coach, Juan Perez felt that it was time to let a different face take over and help the team turn a new leaf. He would’ve never thought after stepping down two years ago to become the Sealy girls’ soccer coordinator, that he’d be back again on the male Tigers’ side to help them out when they needed him most.

SHENANDOAH — For a short time during the state quarterfinal matchup between Jasper and Bellville, it appears that the Bulldogs might be ready to take a bite out of the Brahmas epic post-season run this season. But Bellville scored 17 unanswered points in the second half en route to a 31-7 victory over Jasper at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah and advance to the state semifinals next week against District 13-4A Division II Champion Wimberly.

Sealy senior Colette Kelley signed a college softball letter of intent with Wayland Baptist University. Wayland Baptist University Athletics just added softball to its sports lineup beginning last fall. After an initial year with a “leadership class,” Wayland softball will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference — alongside WBU’s 17 other sports — beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
