Three Cougars named to THSCA state teams

Three members of the Brazos Cougar football team were honored to be placed on the THSCA Academic All State teams. This is considered a big honor that the Texas High School Coach Association places on players recognizing their talent on the field and hardwork in the classroom as well. First team honoree was Colton Richardson (54) and honorable mention honorees included Trey Gaston (4) and Jenson Miles (3).

Juan Perez returns as head coach, looks to fill 23-man roster

After 15 years as the Sealy boys’ head soccer coach, Juan Perez felt that it was time to let a different face take over and help the team turn a new leaf. He would’ve never thought after stepping down two years ago to become the Sealy girls’ soccer coordinator, that he’d be back again on the male Tigers’ side to help them out when they needed him most.

SHENANDOAH — For a short time during the state quarterfinal matchup between Jasper and Bellville, it appears that the Bulldogs might be ready to take a bite out of the Brahmas epic post-season run this season. But Bellville scored 17 unanswered points in the second half en route to a 31-7 victory over Jasper at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah and advance to the state semifinals next week against District 13-4A Division II Champion Wimberly.

Kelley signs with Wayland Baptist

Sealy senior Colette Kelley signed a college softball letter of intent with Wayland Baptist University. Wayland Baptist University Athletics just added softball to its sports lineup beginning last fall. After an initial year with a “leadership class,” Wayland softball will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference — alongside WBU’s 17 other sports — beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
