It’s not all fun and games if there’s no game to even play in the first place.

Everybody loves an underdog comeback story, don’t they? For the first time since early January, Sealy won two games in row, sealing a 3-1 victory against Hempstead Feb. 14 followed by a tense penalty shootout victory against Harmony School of Discovery Feb. 17.

EAST BERNARD — Last year, the Brazos Cougars faced off against Boling in a play-in game for the fourth playoff berth out of District 24-3A. Boling was able to advance in an overtime thriller.

The Brazos Cougars and Cougarettes competed at the Ganado Powerlifting Meet last week with the girls finishing third and the boys squad finishing in first place. Brazos had 11 Cougars and six Cougarettes medal individually during the meet.

Brazos honored its two seniors on the boys’ basketball team during a ceremony last week. Javien Dickerson and Trey Gaston were honored for their play on the varsity team and leaving a legacy with the basketball program.

The Bellville Brahmas golf team placed first 1st at the Columbus Golf Tournament. Individual awards include Deacon Bauerschlag 1st, Cooper Hollomon 2nd, Jason Wood 3rd.

The Sealy Lady Tigers are sitting at 4-3 through the early going of the season after participating in the Katy ISD Varsity softball tournament last weekend. Sealy opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over Jersey Village Feb.

The Sealy Lady Tigers are heading to the Class 4A basketball playoffs after finishing off their season with a nice 50-41 victory over Brookshire Royal in the district finale. “We went into overtime to get a nice win over Royal and that was good for the team,” said Sealy Head Girls Basketball Coach Brateicka Mock.

Another hard-fought battle against the district’s top brass ended in heartbreak for Sealy Feb. 8, losing 2-1 to Navasota at home.

There seems to be no stopping the Sealy girls this season as they continue dismantling district opposition, battering Navasota 5-1 at home, Feb. 9.
