Laura Elie was indicted by an Austin County grand jury in connection with the murder investigation of her husband Jackie Elie. Elie, of Cat Spring, was arrested in March by an Austin County Regional Special Response team int he 16500 block of Sycamore Road in Cat Spring.

AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott celebrated the successful slate of conservative, pro-growth legislation passed in the 89th Legislative Session, keeping the promises made to Texans during his 2025 State of the State Address.

HOUSTON — Governor Greg Abbott signed into law the strongest bail reform package in Texas history at Crime Stoppers of Houston. Joined by dozens of bail reform advocates and families of victims, the Governor signed Senate Bill 9, Senate Bill 40, House Bill 75, and Senate Joint Resolution 5 to protect Texans by keeping violent, repeat offenders behind bars.

HOUSTON – A 33-yearold Houston resident has been ordered to federal prison following his convictions for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J.

AUSTIN – The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is notifying an additional 33,529 recipients of agency services and other affected individuals that their protected health, personal identifying or sensitive personal information may have been inappropriately accessed, used or disclosed.

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott appointed John A. McCall Jr., O.D. to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for a term set to expire on Feb. 1, 2031. Additionally, the Governor named Paul Foster as chair of the Commission. The Commission manages and conserves the natural and cultural resources of Texas and provides hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

The Lone Star Symphonic Band concludes its 32nd Concert Season with a concert this June. All performances this season will take place at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, located at 22111 Morton Road, Katy, Texas 77449. The concert performance will begin at 4 pm. Tickets to individual concerts are available at the cost of $11 each.

At just 16 years old, Reagan Moreau is about to earn her Fayetteville High School diploma and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from the Blinn College District — completing three years’ worth of education ahead of schedule. A standout at Fayetteville High School, Moreau will cross the stage at Blinn’s graduation ceremony on May 7 before accepting her high school diploma a full year early just two days later.

Fourteen graduates of the Blinn College District Veterinary Technology Program were honored Wednesday, May 7, at a pinning ceremony at the Blinn-Brenham Student Center.
