Members of the Sealy Education Foundation spent its Thursday morning handing out $50,000 worth of grants to teachers and students across Sealy ISD. Out of the 45 grants that were handed out, SEF board member Ryan Reichardt said estimates showed it would impact around 1,700 students, more than 50% of the district’s enrollment.

The results of a community public survey were presented to the board of the Sealy Economic Development Corporation during its regular meeting March 22 at the W. E. Hill Community Center.

Sunday, March 27, the eastbound Frontage Road of Interstate Highway 10 will be closed from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, for the construction of the westbound frontage road.

The Austin County Sheriff's Office released more information on the homicide reported Tuesday in Bellville. Kathy Maresh was arrested for murder and is being held in the Austin County Jail on a $500,000 bond, ACSO announced March 25.

"March 22, 2022, at approximately 1530 hours, Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of Sycamore Crossing and Highway 159 W regarding a welfare concern. Deputies arrived and located a female who was wandering around the area on foot.

Brazos FFA rolls along at HLSR

Sealy High School’s Kenna Schram was crowned the Grand Champion for her Pen of Broilers (cockerels) at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo over the weekend. Her project sold for $200,000 to Roger Camp, Becky and Kelly Joy, Julie and Alan Kent and Gregory Miller at the 2022 Junior Market Poultry Show.
