A possible homicide is being investigated by Austin County Sheriff's Office, the department announced Wednesday morning.

"March 22, 2022, at approximately 1530 hours, Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of Sycamore Crossing and Highway 159 W regarding a welfare concern. Deputies arrived and located a female who was wandering around the area on foot. After a brief questioning to determine if she needed assistance, the woman stated she had shot her husband and that he was currently dead in their residence located at 1508 S. Tesch, Bellville, Texas. Deputies immediately traveled to this location and discovered a deceased male inside the residence. Austin County Sheriff’s investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and seized numerous items of evidence related to this crime. An autopsy has been ordered by Judge Richard Yancey. Further information will be made available once the autopsy and investigation are completed."
