Sealy High School alumnus Justin Eckhardt and the University of Texas Longhorn baseball team found the end of the road just a step away from the College World Series Final last Saturday. Texas won both of its Super Regional games against the University of Southern Florida at home then took off to Omaha, Neb.

What an odd 15 months it’s been. The Friends of the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site wanted to reassure stakeholders that things are starting to normalize. Hopefully, visitors return to the historic site in full swing this summer, or certainly by the fall if you’re waiting for cooler weather.

The Irene LeBlanc Pool at Sealy’s Cryan Park is open and ready for business six days a week during the summer. Visit the pool Tuesday through Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m.

As the football regular season inches closer, the Katy 7-on-7 league that members of the Sealy Tigers have been participating in enters the final week of exhibition play. Last week, Sealy won both of its games over Mayde Creek and Jordan.

During the June 28 meeting of Austin County Commissioners Court, an interlocal agreement with the City of Sealy was approved and put an end to a long-standing debate between the two entities regarding drainage in the Bullinger Creek Subdivision.

Although the Houston Astros dropped its series-opening game against Baltimore at home to begin this week, they entered play on Tuesday tied with only the Boston Red Sox for the best record in the American League at 48-31.

Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst will speak at Industry, Texas’ Celebrate America event on July 3 in Industry’s City Park at 725 Main Street. This day will also mark the 190th anniversary of Industry’s founding.

The Brazos ISD Board of Trustees formally offered the Superintendent contract to Scott Rogers during its June 17 regular meeting at the Brazos ISD Administration Building. Rogers was named the lone finalist at the May 26 regular meeting.

Brazos High School rising senior Makinzy Kneip recently announced her verbal commitment to play softball for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions in Waxahachie. She will join her sister Maddie, a member of Brazos’ Class of 2021, who will run cross country for SAGU this fall.
