Sfter losing its first 10 of 11 games, the Sealy Lady Tiger softball team has now won six games in a row including the first two in district play. Sealy opened its District 24-4A slate with a 15-5, run-rule win over Wharton at home last Tuesday and followed that up with a 9-4 win over Navasota on the road the following day.

The Sealy Tiger baseball team was hoping the start of the District 24-4A slate would serve as a reset button for the club that carried a 3-14 record through non-district play following a 6-4 loss to La Grange last Thursday afternoon.

With personal records in all three lifts, Brazos senior Halie Gonzalez earned third place overall in the 181-pound weight class at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state championships in Corpus Christi March 18.

Monday afternoon, the Sealy golf teams took on the Pecan Lakes Golf Club in Navasota for the two-round District 24-4A Championship where the top two teams or the top two individual medalists from non-advancing teams punch a ticket to regionals. The second round will be played next Monday, March 29.

The Sealy Tiger soccer teams have officially entered the postseason and will have their bi-district playoff games this Friday. The Lady Tigers will head to Cameron Yoe to face the third-place Yeomen from District 19 with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

Earlier this month, Bellville’s Caleb Smidt qualified for the American Rodeo Finals by winning the tie-down roping event at the RFD-TV’s The American Semi-Finals with an aggregate time of 16.05 seconds on two.

The Blinn College women’s golf team placed fourth at the Prairie View A&M University Spring Collegiate Invitational at the Sterling Country Club at Houston National last Tuesday, March 16. The Buccaneers posted team scores of 347 and 364 the first day, and concluded the tournament with a 365 for a three-round total of 1,076.

The Sealy basketball teams had multiple athletes honored with all-district distinction following the 2020-2021 season where the Tigers finished fourth and the Lady Tigers sixth. For the Tigers, senior Donte Beasley was named the District 24 Defensive MVP, and classmates Jacob Gajewski (first-team all-district) and Nick Martinez (second-team all-district) each made a team.
