Staying socially active as a senior is healthy

Body
Social isolation can harm the mental and physical health of seniors; this is no secret. It can be particularly challenging around days of the year that have some social significance — for example, the holiday season or Valentine’s Day. Interactions with peers, time spent with family, and community support systems prevent senior isolation. This will also lead to improved physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

American Legion looks to fresh beginnings in 2024

Father Time has struck once again and we close the calendar of 2023 and open another year that brings a fresh beginning. In the east at Times Square we witness the “Ball Drop,” in the central we listen to “Nashville’s Big Bash,” in the mountains “The Mile High Tree” in Denver, and finally in the west along “Freemont Street” of Las Vegas numerous celebrations usher in the New Year with fresh beginnings.

‘I’ve never seen this border more out of control’

This is a solemn occasion. Probably the most serious obligation we have in this committee, on this committee. The last time a cabinet member was impeached was during the administration of Ulysses S. Grant many years ago. In my experience as a deputy attorney general for criminal justice, [for the] state of Texas, as a federal prosecutor charged with counter-terrorism and national security, and former chairman of this very committee — I’ve never seen this border more out of control.
