State turning children into rats To the Editor, Senator Creighton called me a liar on the Senate floor, me and all the Texans who are screaming that ESA’s will destroy public education in Texas, that billionaires are financing this push, and that the ultimate goal is to privatize the education system; he claims we are creating a narrative. The thing is, that is literally what Jeff Yass has said his plan is, which is to create a free-market so that failing government schools close.

What comes first? Legal action or government support?

A legal Act introduced to Congress in 2023, The Relief for Farmers Hit with PFAS Act, aims to provide funding totaling $500 million to farmers affected by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Nevertheless, to date, the extent of the contamination across the country is not yet known, and this bill has not yet made it past Congress.

Texas budget writers will be helped again by a large budget surplus

Earlier this week, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that he expects $194.6 billion of state revenue to be available for general-purpose spending in the fiscal 2026-27 biennium. This biennial revenue estimate is an important step in the continuous two-year state budget process and gives initial funding parameters to House and Senate budget writers for the legislative session now underway.
