Abbott announces federal assistance for corner pocket fire in Texas panhandle

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a request from the State of Texas for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) for the Corner Pocket Fire in Donley County, which threatened and damaged homes and infrastructure in the Texas Panhandle and forced local evacuations. “The state of Texas is working swiftly to provide additional funding to local officials and firefighters who battled the Corner Pocket Fire in Donley County over the weekend,” said Abbott. “This FEMA grant will help offset costs associated with firefighting operations as our brave firefighters battle blazes and protect the citizens of this great state. While this fire now contained, I encourage Texans to heed the guidance of local officials and take all necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe as increased wildfire danger continues.”

DSNDP’s Needville Cleanup Drive: 300 pounds of trash collected for a cleaner environment

On March 01, the Texas community came together for a significant environmental cleanup, volunteers from Dr. Shri. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan (DSNDP) participated in an Adopt-AHighway cleanup drive. This event, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), took place at FM 361/FM 1994 up to Seller Rd, Needville, Fort Bend County, Texas 77461. A dedicated team of twelvevolunteers from Fort Bend County cleared twenty large trash bags along a 3-mile stretch, removing approximately 300 pounds of waste.

The entire floor in the store must be cleaned. In between the soda cooler and window in front of store must be cleaned in the corner. The bottom of the coolers on the outside must be cleaned. In the back of the store by the ice machine must be cleaned. There is trash, crates and junk in the back of the store, must be removed. The bathroom is very dirty and must be cleaned. Must get fire extinguishers up to date. Store is CLOSED. Grade – 0 ** Big 99 Cent Store 3/19/26 – 1. Back open. Grade – 100 7. Hinze BBQ (2101 Hwy 36 S) – 3/17/26 – 1. The cooking area needs a deep clean to remove all the grease and old food under the cooker, temp table and by the wall. Must remove the old rags and dirt under the pie cooler. Must clean inside and under the drink cooler next to the pies. All microwaves must be cleaned. All equipment in the back must be cleaned to remove all grease on the outside. All food in coolers must be covered at all times. Must keep all the rags in one spot. CLOSED – 0 ** Hinze BBQ 3/18/26 – 1. Back open. Grade – 100
