Blinn College band a finalist in Metallica’s ‘For Whom the Band Tolls’ contest

The Blinn College band has rocked its way into the finals of a competition featuring music by the heavy metal band Metallica. The Blinn band is among five finalists in College Division 2 and 3 in the “For Whom the Band Tolls” contest, which will award more than $180,000 in prizes.

DPS presents awards at final PSC meeting of the year

AUSTIN –The Texas Public Safety Commission (PSC), along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw, presented several prestigious awards to DPS personnel, including five Director’s Citations, one Lifesaving Award and a Unit Citation Dec. 7. The Awards were presented at the PSC meeting at DPS Headquarters in Austin. Four Director’s Awards were also given to people outside the department.

Abbott signs historic border security measures In Brownsville

Texas Governor Greg Abbott today signed into law a transformative package of border security legislation passed during Special Session #3 and Special Session #4 of the 88th Texas Legislature at the Texas border wall in Brownsville. These three new laws will bolster Texas’ unprecedented border security efforts and crackdown on human smuggling, deter the flow of illegal border crossings, and protect the lives and property of Texans by funding the ongoing construction of Texas’ border wall.

State’s cold case unit still investigating Landry’s disappearance

Three years ago this week, a Texas college student named Jason Landry disappeared. Attorney General Paxton and the Office of the Attorney General’s Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit wish to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to this investigation and to pursuing all credible information received from the public.
