Sealy Police Department has approved grant funding through the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA). This funding will be enhanced and expand upon our ability to prevent and solve motor vehicle crimes both here locally and throughout our region.

BELLVILLE - The owner/operator of Bellville Treats was arrested by Austin County authorities Feb. 5 on a warrant for possession of child pornography. Joseph “Joe” Daaboul, 33, was charged with possession of child pornography, less than 100 visual representations depicting child under 10 years of age, enhanced to a second- degree felony and has been booked into the Austin County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

The first step towards the passage of school vouchers was passed last week by the Texas Senate and the move was met by mixed reactions from parent groups and school officials across the state. The plan would allow parents to use taxpayers dollars to fund private education.

A bill to implement school vouchers in Texas sailed through the Senate largely on party lines last week and now awaits consideration in the House, the Austin American- Statesman reported. House Speaker Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, said he believes there are enough votes in that chamber to pass the legislation, which was defeated a half-dozen times in 2023 by a coalition of Democratic and rural Republican members.

The Horticulture Committee of Austin County is a group of volunteers who serve Austin County in support of horticulture education for adults. Their mission is to provide educational programs and information and to promote the improvement of horticultural practices in Austin and surrounding counties.
