Senate confirms Commissioners Hord, Stodghill to Public Safety Commission

AUSTIN – On Wednesday, the Texas Senate confirmed Dan Hord III and Steven H. Stodghill as members of the Public Safety Commission (PSC). These confirmations follow Hord’s appointment and Stodghill’s reappointment to the PSC by Governor Greg Abbott last year. Both of their terms will expire on Jan. 1, 2030.

Texas announces second death in measles outbreak

The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting the second measles death of a Texas resident in the ongoing outbreak centered in the state’s South Plains region. The school-aged child who tested positive for measles was hospitalized in Lubbock and passed away on Thursday from what the child’s doctors described as measles pulmonary failure. The child was not vaccinated and had no reported underlying conditions.

Buitron, Knox assist in narcotics arrest in area

With the aid of Austin County Sheriff’s officers, a multi-county investigation resulted in the arrest of a suspect believed to be transporting large amounts of illegal narcotics through the area. Austin County Sheriff’s deputy Orlando Buitron and his K9 “Knox” were requested to assist in the investigation involving a vehicle suspected in transporting large amounts of illegal narcotics.
