The following items are compiled from recent Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) law enforcement reports. Penny Pinching A Shelby County game warden followed up on an ongoing investigation of a local individual who had hunted without a valid hunting license when he shot a buck in 2019.

Hanzelka, Kovar engaged

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hanzelka Jr. of Orchard announce the engagement of their daughter, Breanna Alexis Hanzelka, to Allan James Kovar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Kovar of Wallis. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Lefty) Hanzelka of Wallis and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Sowa of Sealy. She is a graduate of Brazos High School and the University of Houston and is continuing her post-graduate education at Texas Women’s University in Houston with a career in Occupational Therapy. The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kovar of Wallis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Haedge Sr. of East Bernard. He is a graduate of Brazos High School and the University of Texas in Austin and is employed with Leedo Cabinetry in East Bernard. The couple plans to exchange vows at 2:00 p.m. on May 15 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis.
