Townsend, Marek compete at state

Bellville and Brazos both had a lone representative at the Division 2 Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championship at the Taylor County Expo in Abilene March 15. Alex Marek represented the Brahmas in the 198-pound weight class and finished fourth overall while Joey Townsend competed in the 165-pound weight class for the Cougars and earned 12th overall.

Almaguer breaks own record

Sfter losing its first 10 of 11 games, the Sealy Lady Tiger softball team has now won six games in a row including the first two in district play. Sealy opened its District 24-4A slate with a 15-5, run-rule win over Wharton at home last Tuesday and followed that up with a 9-4 win over Navasota on the road the following day.

Sealy golf opens district

Monday afternoon, the Sealy golf teams took on the Pecan Lakes Golf Club in Navasota for the two-round District 24-4A Championship where the top two teams or the top two individual medalists from non-advancing teams punch a ticket to regionals. The second round will be played next Monday, March 29.
