The Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team was well represented with 10 all-district selections and 15 academic all-district distinctions following its best record and a second-place finish in District 20-4A. Junior classmates Destinee Castillo (co-offensive player of the year) and Kenna Killough (defensive player of the year) as well as freshman Rebeca Garza (co-freshman of the year) all earned MVP/first-team all-district honors for their contributions.
The Sealy Tiger soccer team won its second Area Championship in its two most recent postseason trips with a 2-1 win over Waco La Vega Monday night in Madisonville. Sealy beat Smithville by a 5-2 score last Friday in the bi-district round in Columbus and has set up a third-round meeting with Salado who ended Bellville’s season with a 4-2 win in the Area round.
The Sealy Tiger baseball team got the monkey off its back and snapped a losing streak with a pair of wins to start play within District 24-4A last week. It got started with a 4-3, walk-off win over El Campo last Tuesday where head coach Dane Bennett said starting pitching Rhys Reichardt set the tone.
The Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team found the end of the road in the bi-district round of the playoffs last week when Cameron Yoe defeated Sealy by a 2-0 score. The Lady Tigers were back in the postseason for the sixth time in as many years under head coach Adrian Rocha but this time as a two seed in a new district.
The Sealy Lady Tiger softball team suffered its first loss within District 24-4A against El Campo, 13-3, last week but bounced back with a 20-0 win over Royal later that week and a 12-5 win over Bellville to start this week.
The Sealy Tiger golf teams returned to Pecan Lakes Golf Club in Navasota on Monday of this week for the second round of the District 24-4A Championship and the Tigers punched their ticket to regionals with a second-place team finish.
The Faith Academy Knights baseball team split its action last week and collected its first win of the season with a 14-5 victory over Texas Connection last Thursday. Before Faith Academy’s win, the Knights lost to Bay Area Christian earlier in the week where they fell behind early and couldn’t come back and eventually fell by an 11-0 score.
The Faith Academy Track team competed in the JV Swamp Relays at Rice Consolidated High School in Altair March 24 against El Campo, Columbus, Shiner, La Grange and Rice. The field events took place under overcast skies and a drizzle.
