When the girls’ soccer all-district awards were initially announced at the beginning of last week, only two student-athletes received academic all-district distinction for maintaining an average of at least 90 in all of their classes throughout the season.

However, in a late-week update, it was announced 13 more Lady Tigers also achieved that mark and were honored with academic all-district recognition for their efforts in the classroom and also on the field.

On top of junior classmates Kenna Killough and Rosa Alvarez that were included in the first announcement, six seniors, four more juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen were added to the list of recipients.

In their final season, seniors Coral Becerra, Alexis Garza, Britny Hernandez, Janette Lozano, Olayne Silva and Valerie Villagomez cracked the list, juniors Hailey Arteaga, Jenna Forrester, Diana Munoz and Hattie Schalla were honored, sophomore Anya Cano registered a spot and freshmen Allyson Guerrero and Camarie Santos similarly earned recognition.

Sealy finished as runners-up in District 20-4A and extended a postseason streak under head coach Adrian Rocha to six years but fell in the bi-district round to Cameron Yoe, 2-0.
