The Sealy Lady Tigers will open play within District 20-4A Friday evening with a road trip to Hempstead following a 2-2 record through non-district play.

After Sealy snapped a fiveyear, 10-game losing streak to Needville earlier last week, the Lady Tigers closed their non-district slate with an 8-0 loss to La Grange last Friday on the road. Sealy also recorded a 3-2 win over Splendora and fell to Giddings 8-1 to begin the season.

The Lady Tigers start district play with trips to Hempstead and Rice before hosting the Houston Harmony School of Discovery on Jan. 29 at T.J. Mills Stadium.

Head coach Adrian Rocha said after the Needville game that he looked forward to beginning the fight for playoff positioning after the previous postseason was canceled as a result of the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is what we need, I’m excited for district to start next Friday,” he said last Monday evening. “If we have a good start to district hopefully we can keep it on a roll.”

To close the first round of district play, Sealy will alternate between away and home games against Columbus, Navasota, Bellville and Royal. Last season, the Lady Tigers beat Columbus the one time they played, beat Royal both times they met and fell to Bellville in two different meetings.
