The Blinn College District named a school-record 199 student-athletes to the fall 2021 Don Wilhelm Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, surpassing the previous mark of 196 set during the spring 2021 semester.

Locally, Sealy’s Madeline Goad (women’s golf), Rhys Reichardt and Arturo Hernandez (baseball) as well as Bellville’s Sara Rogers (volleyball) and Kyle Peschel (baseball) were among the honorees.

To be eligible, student-athletes must post a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA) and pass a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours.

Thirty-two student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, including Goad and women’s golf teammate Yulisa Espinoza as well as Reichardt and baseball teammates Aiden Huerta, Travis White, Blaise Wilcenski, Ryan Young, Jacob Espinoza and Mitchell Moore.

They were joined by men’s basketball players Oluwasanmi Fajana, Jan Njock, Alex Tsynkevich, Darrell Ellis, Isaac Lawson, and Andrew O’Neal; volleyball players, Fiona Arnold, Madison Collins, Kyndal Coufal, Lina Ellila, Giulia Rodrigues Hortelan, and Emily Smajstrla; women’s soccer players Madison Kanelos, Lily Price, and Morgan Zachos; softball players Natilee Reed, Madeline Stephenson, and Chandler Talbot; esports players Chase Matthews and Pierce Ray; football player Aanooalii Filoialii; men’s soccer player Joseph Boyce; and dance team member Victoria Golden.

The volleyball team led all Blinn athletic programs with a 3.58 GPA, while the softball team followed with a 3.38 GPA. Baseball had the most honor roll students with 34, followed by football with 29.

“I am tremendously proud and happy for all of our student athletes,” Athletic Director Scott Schumacher said. “I am also proud of the emphasis that our athletic staff continues to put on academics.”

The honor roll is named after former Blinn Athletic Director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the College for 10 years.
