There are lots of great things happening in Sealy ISD.

In January, we got a group of 60 students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members together and had conversations about the district’s past and our hopes for the future. We discussed the defining moments that have made Sealy what it is today, talked about what it means to be a learning organization, and our capacity for implementing the changes needed to get us where we want to be for our students.

When discussing defining moments, participants shared moments in time when there was an incredible sense of pride in our schools and community. I was inspired by those conversations because I believe great communities and great schools go hand in hand, and I believe we have what it takes to be something special. Even though it seems like the world is spinning at a faster pace, we can be that family-friendly, community-oriented school that prepares students to win their future.

On March 4 and 7, we will host 28 focus groups as the next phase of the strategic planning process. We will use those conversations to gain more insight from stakeholders about how we can honor our past and discover what it will take for us to become the standard for all things education. If you would like to be part of those conversations and have missed our invites on social media or in our weekly messages, please shoot me an email and we will get you plugged in (bhallmark@sealyisd.com).

In addition to strategic planning, we are currently in the process of awarding $50,000 in grants from the Sealy Education Foundation. Those grants are aimed at providing engaging experiences and workforce-ready skills for students that are beyond the scope of our normal budget. A special thank you to Sealy Education Foundation (SEF) donors, the Sealy Scholarship Endowment Fund, and Randerson Trust for making this possible. All proceeds of the Sealy Education Foundation go into classrooms across the district and directly benefit our current students. If you would like to learn more about the Sealy Education Foundation visit our webpage at sealyisd.com or check us out on Facebook.

I am so blessed that my family gets to call this community home, and I am proud to serve as the Superintendent of Sealy ISD. I truly believe from here, anything is possible.
