TILLIE MAY MALER SELL

Tillie May Sell was born on July 19, 1931, to John and Mary “Marie” Surovik Maler in Sealy, Texas and made her final journey to be home with Her Lord and to reunite with her beloved Allen and many loved ones on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, peacefully with her family at her side.

She graduated from Sealy High School in 1949. After graduating she attended a Business School in Houston. She married the love of her life, Allen E. Sell on June 25, 1950. She worked for Frank Petter Desoto and Plymouth Dealership in Wallis before the arrival of their first daughter, Barbara, in 1954, followed by four other siblings, the youngest arriving in 1962. After raising her children, she worked for a time at the Sealy Hospital and Ms Hahn’s Kindergarten before going to work for Jones G. Finke Inc, a road construction company in Sealy.

She was a valuable employee there until she retired to enjoy traveling with Allen and her grandchildren. Besides spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed man crafting hobbies as well as gardening with Allen, sewing, cooking and especially baking and traveling the world. She and her Love spent their 50th wedding anniversary in Australia where they were able to raise the American flag at Olympic Stadium, which was a highlight of their travels.

Tillie was a very active and devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church, a member of the Bluebonnet Chapter of the German Society, the Fort Bend Czech Society, the Sealy Garden Club and a proud member of Wallis Legion Auxiliary Unit #200. During her time in the Auxiliary, she and Allen organized and started the first July Legion Craft Show in 2003 and continues on, now being organized by their daughters Carolyn and Joyce. Several years later they added a fall show which was held in October. She also spent many years as a Scout leader for her sons and daughters. h Patrin. She is survived by her children Barbara and Bill Harrison, David and Roxie Sell, Joyce and Darrell Giese, Carolyn and Robert Rash and James “Peanut” and Jheri Sell; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Charlie Brown.

In her earthly venture she was a loving and devoted wife, Mom, Granny and friend and will be deeply missed by many but will be in our hearts forever until we take our journey to be reunited with her. at Columbus Hospital, Rice Medical Center, Eagle Lake, the Colorado County EMS teams, DeTar Navarro in Victoria and Harbor Hospice care team, Pastor Karen Wilheim and all the family and friends for all the cards, phone calls, care and support during these past weeks.

Serving as pall bearers are James Sell, Billy Harrison, Chris Sell, Jimmy Sell, Derek Giese, Scott Vogel, Casey Lyde, Joaquin Vargas and Jason Manak. Honoree pall bearer, Larry Mikeska.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to St. John Lutheran, Wallis; Wallis American Legion Auxiliary Unit #200 or a charity of your chose in Tillie’s memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of Knesek Funeral Home, Sealy.
