It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Kay Dyer, 80, of Wallis, announces her passing on Nov. 27, 2024. Sharon was born in San Angelo, to O.C. Richards and Delores Lorraine Hester. She spent her childhood in San Angelo and later moved to Abilene. During her school years she excelled in softball in both mixed and women’s leagues. Her best position was shortstop.

Sharon married Noel Ray Dyer in 1961, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Sharon worked at Sears and Armstrong Repair until retirement. She and Noel had two children, Lauri Jean and Johnny Ray. Sharon always felt that the best thing in her life was being a wife, parent and great-grandparent. Her family always came first.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Noel R Dyer; grandparents Vernon and Katherine Hulling; brother, Justin Ray Richards. She is survived by her daughter Lauri Jean Patterson and son Johnny Ray Dyer, both of Wallis; granddaughter Jordan Patterson of Sealy; grandsons Seth and Jake Clements of Wallis; and great grandchildren Mason Sosa, Khloe Lopez and Kamilla Lopez.

A funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2024, at Knesek Funeral Home, 122 N. First Street, Wallis. Interment will be on Dec. 4, 2024, in Buffalo Gap, where Sharon will be laid to rest with her husband.
