Opal Virginia (Lilie) Kovar of Brenham and formally of Sealy passed away peacefully in Brenham on Thursday December 9th, 2021. Mrs. Kovar was born in Columbus TX to Herbert and Alice Meyer Lilie on September 17th, 1939. She grew up in the Brushy and Mentz communities. She graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus TX. She was married in July of 1959 to George Kovar. She was a homemaker and a devout member of the Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Kovar was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Darryl Lilie, and three infant siblings.

She leaves to mourn three daughters Sandy Wellbrock and husband Kenny of Brenham, Doris Widacki and husband Steve of Katy, Laurie Maples and husband Geary of Houston; nine grandchildren, Amanda Garvin and husband Jon of Montgomery, Cory Wellbrock and wife Jennifer of Leander, Chase Wellbrock and wife Alex of Tomball, Tiffany Lauzon and husband Sonny of Columbus, Cassidy Vargas and husband Max of Katy, Courtney Pesak and husband Aaron of Weimar, Cadey Widacki of Lufkin, Trey Roznovsky and wife Haley of Cypress and Krysta Saluzzi and husband Neil of Cypress; 11 greatgrandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother Douglas Lilie and wife Virginia of Columbus, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 16th, 2021, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Frydek and the interment followed at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Frydek.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Cory Wellbrock, Chase Wellbrock, Jon Garvin, Max Vargas, Aaron Pesak, Sonny Lauzon, Trey Roznovsky, and Neil Saluzzi.
