NELDA MARBURGER
Nov. 16, 1929 – Oct.
27, 2024 Nelda Marburger was born to Elo and Emily (Hartmann) Marburger in Sealy, Nov. 16, 1929. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on Oct. 20, 1930, in Sealy and confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Wallis, Texas on Feb. 25, 1945, by Pastor Sager.
She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wallis, where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Church Council in several positions. She and her town sister Delta were members of the Priscilla Circle at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston for 40 years and considered it their second Christian home.
Nelda attended Sealy Public Schools and graduated in 1947. Upon graduation, Nelda moved to Houston. She worked for E.W. Saybolt for 40 years, retiring in 1992 as an Administrative Assistant. After retiring, Nelda enjoyed traveling the U.S., Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Israel, Egypt, and the Holy Lands. She joined the Sealy Garden Club and Austin County German Club of which she is still a member. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, oil painting, and learning to play the guitar. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing many of her sisters’ clothes. Her favorite pastime was cheering on the Sealy Tiger Football team and was in the stands at most games.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Delta Marburger, sister Ora dell Dittmar and Viola Marburger, and brother Leroy Marburger.
She is survived by her nieces Sharon Wagner and Beverly (Paul) Raschke. She is also survived by great-nieces Melissa (Brian) Compton and Meredith (Ryan) Flip and great nephew Chris (Brittany) Raschke, great-great nephew Kyle Compton and great-great Nieces Sarah Compton, Addison Flip, Kate Raschke and Clara Raschke.
We want to thank the many people who cared for Nelda throughout her life, especially the loving staff at Veranda House and Falcon Point, neighbors Jim and Gloria Turnbull and Marie Page, and special friend Tillie Sell. Thank you also to therapists Shannon Robers, Cindy Harris, and Laura Nastoupil.
