1946-2024

Margaret Jean Jatzlau, 77, of Sealy, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, with her children at her side.

Margaret was born on Nov. 11, 1946, in Bellville, to parents Ervin Lueckemeyer and Adela Pomikal Stein. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran religion.

On Nov. 28, 1964, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Jatzlau at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Houston. They were married for 58 years until Lawrence’s passing in April of 2023. They lived in Houston for a few years, then made their way to Sealy to make it their home. They had two children, Brenda and Raymond. She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. When the children got older, she decided to get out into the workforce. She started at Walmart when they opened their doors and retired from there too.

Margaret loved to cook and bake. The smell of homemade bread, strudels, noodles and other baked goods would smell so good. Since they always had a nice garden, they were always canning what they grew. They handed out more canned goods than they kept. She was always busy doing something. She never liked to sit still. You never left her house hungry, and you always had goodies to take home.

After Margaret’s husband passed away in April of 2023, she spent a lot of her time at her children’s homes. At her daughter’s home, she spent a lot of time with her grandchildren and her daughter’s daycare children. They all loved her coming over. At her son’s home, she loved spending time with him and his wife Becky and their two dogs. They all loved to go fishing in their boat at the lake. She especially loved it when she caught the biggest fish. She kept her days busy until she fell ill.

Margaret loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always spending time with them. She didn’t care if it was one of them or all of them coming to stay with her. She loved every minute of it. The bond she made with them is priceless and she will always be in their hearts.

Margaret had a heart of gold. She had a beautiful smile that was contagious and a caring heart. She was the one that would do anything for anybody.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parent’s, Ervin Lueckemeyer and Adela Pomikal Stein, stepfather Butch Stein, brother’s Calvin Lueckemeyer and Douglas Lueckemeyer.

Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Cash of Sealy, son and daughter- in-law, Raymond and Becky Jatzlau of Humble, step-brother, Val (Charlie) Stein and wife Cynthia of Shiner, step-sister, Betty Puryear of Tomball, her grandchildren Kimberly Rider and husband Tim of Danbury, Jennifer Ralston and husband Cole of Manville, Krystal Cash of Huntsville, Kristen Cash ad boyfriend Demci Santana of Sealy, Taylor Cash of Sealy and Deanna Cash of Sealy, her great-grandchildren Addison Rider, Sydney Rider, Hudson Ralston, and Owen Ralston.
