Leo Delle Carlson, 96, of Houston, passed away on Jan. 17, 2025. Delle was born on March 30, 1928, in Sealy, the daughter of Seymour “King” and Leona Salomon.
A lifelong musician, she earned a master’s degree in music from Sam Houston State and dedicated her life to teaching and performing. Over the years, she played with numerous bands, sharing her talent and love of music with many. Beyond music, she was a successful entrepreneur, owning both a florist and a catering company, where her creativity and determination shined.
Known for her strong will and unwavering spirit, Delle was a force of nature—she got things done her way. She left a lasting impact on her family, students, her community, and everyone who knew her. Her passion for music lives on through those she taught and inspired.
Delle is survived by her daughter, Julie Winette Rawls of Dime Box; and step-son, Norman Carlson of Branson, MO; grandchildren, Victoria Smith of Houston, Gary Carlson, Paula Baxter, and Shanna Carlson of Branson, MO; great grandchild, Aiden Smith of Houston.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Eric R. Carlson; and step-son, Richard Carlson.
A visitation for Delle will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018. A committal service will take place at 3 p.m. at Sealy Cemetery, Sealy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
