JANET FAYE ZASKODA RAPSILVER

Janet Faye (Zaskoda) Rapsilver was called home on Aug. 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 9, 1948, in Bellville, to Harvel and Dessie May (Kollatschny) Zaskoda.

Janet attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School until the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Sealy High School in 1966. Janet was a very outgoing and funny lady. She and her girls Margaret, Jeanette, and Joyce- shared many fun adventures during their years of friendship. One thing was the Chinese fire drills in the cool Sherbert green car that she drove. Janet often told her kids the story of how when she turned corners, the doors would fly open.

Janet Faye was also very persistent. How else do you think she got Larry Rapsilver to notice her? Larry worked for Diestel’s Service Station, and Janet would frequently pass by so that she could wave at him. He finally noticed her, and the rest is history. They were married on June 24, 1967, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They were blessed with two children, Carolyn and Charles. The young family resided in San Felipe on a piece of property that was a gift from Larry’s father.

Janet was employed by First National Bank in Bellville and later by Farmers State Bank and Texas Premier Bank in Brookshire. In her many years in banking, she held many positions. The one at which she excelled was proof machine operator, keying in check numbers and sorting checks. She was the fastest 10-key touch lady around.

Janet was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the KJZT Society #80. Bingo was her favorite pastime, and she and her daughter often played five days a week.

Janet was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She treasured her family and would do whatever needed to take care of them.

Janet is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry Rapsilver, her daughter Carolyn Ritchey (Frank), her son Charles “Chuck” Rapsilver (Michelle), grandchildren Nicholas Rapsilver (Autumn), Andrew Rapsilver, Christopher Rapsilver, and Meredith Rapsilver, and great-grandchildren Birmingham and Beuchanan Rapsilver. She is also survived by sister Carolyn Zaskoda, brother and sister-in-law William and Marilyn Zaskoda, sister-in-law Mary Rossler, nephews Jon Rossler and Eric Zaskoda, niece and goddaughter Suzanne Zaskoda, Aunt Lucille Quinones, and numerous cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother- in-law E.F. and Clara Rapsilver, brother-inlaw Louis G. Rossler, and nephew Matthew David Rossler.

Pallbearers are Chuck Rapsilver, Nicholas Rapsilver, Andrew Rapsilver, Christopher Rapsilver, Jon Rossler, and Eric Zaskoda.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brazos Valley Hospice: 302 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted in Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, Sealy.
