ELIZABETH ANN (STROKOS) HEGEMEYER
ELIZABETH ANN STROKOS HEGEMEYER
Elizabeth Ann (Strokos) Hegemeyer was born in Crosby on October 23, 1942, to Frank and Marie Strokos. She departed our world on June 21, 2026.
On April 9, 1961, she married Newton Hegemeyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They had six children together: Edward, Mary, Linda, Patricia, Jason and Amy.
Elizabeth had five grandchildren: Stephanie (Preuss) Post, Stacey Preuss, Robert Preuss, Haley Hegemeyer, and Amberlee Hegemeyer. Six great grandchildren: Cohen, Kaiden Post, Corey, Robert Jr. Preuss, Lila Robles and Marceline Brast.
Elizabeth and Newton lived in Bellville until moving to Sealy in the early 1970s where they raised their family and lived their lives. She did not have a career, but was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family.
She cared for her husband during his decline in health until his passing in September 2004. She cherished all her children unconditionally, and deeply missed her two daughters, Mary and Patricia, who were lost early in their lives. Elizabeth loved being a mother, enjoyed being around all of the family and the joy they would bring to her.
Lovingly, her grandchildren and great grandchildren would make her light up whenever they were around. She spent as much time with them as possible and always adored the attention she was able to get and give to them. She mostly treasured holidays and gatherings when her family would all get together and be with her. She loved visits from her siblings and their families as well. When it was time for any of the family to leave, she always said “I love you and be careful”. Another special part of her life was her little dog Coco for over 11 years.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Strokos; her husband, Newton Hegemeyer; their children, Mary and Patricia Hegemeyer.
