Barbara Murray, born Barbara Marion Thomason, passed away on Sunday evening, July 21, 2024. She was born in Kansas City, KS on April 1, 1941. She was 83 years old.

She grew up in Houston. She took dance for many years and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. She married the love of her life, Alfred Murray, in 1958 and they moved to Arlington, TX. In 1959 they moved back to the Houston area, and she attended business school in downtown Houston and went to work for her father’s company, keeping his books.

After her three children were ready to start school, she spent most of those years at home running us all to our activities. As her children got older, she worked for H&R Block during the long tax season and eventually worked at the high school so she could be off on days her children were off. In the very early 80’s, after the passing of her father, in 1979, her husband transferred from Southwestern Bell, in Houston, to Austin County area and they picked up their family and moved to Sealy, to care for her mother.

She went on to work at Thrifty Pharmacy where she was the buyer for their fine jewelry and later handled their financials. Her last job was as a teller at Brookshire Brothers Fuel in Bellville, where she worked until she was well into her 70’s.

She never missed a sporting event, of her kids or grandkids, that she was invited to. She loved bowling and bowled for about 25-30 years. She enjoyed doing ceramics and stained glass, as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents Augusta John Thomason, Jr. and Marion Audria Thomason, her son, Chad Murray, and her granddaughter, Kristina Murray.

She is survived by her husband, of 66 years, Alfred Murray, her daughter, Terri Middleton and husband, Linn, her son, Brad Murray and wife, Lisa. Grandchildren: Adam Zillweger and wife Allie, Kyle Murray and wife Julie, Ty Murray and Jordan Murray. Great·grandchildren: Cheyanne Murray, Judd Murray, Austin Zillweger & Garner Zillweger.
