Body

Allison Renea King entered this world as a blessing from heaven on Aug. 29, 1983. Her sparkling eyes and beautiful smile could light up a room. It soon became evident that Allison would have a special purpose in life after she was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Dependent on a ventilator to breathe and limited movement she did not miss a beat. With her little sister at her side with the same limitations, she accomplished many things. She was a Girl Scout, member of the Catholic Daughters and American Legion Auxiliary in Wallis. She made her First Communion and Confirmation at Guardian Angel Catholic Church and received her diploma from Brazos High School. While she was a patient in the pediatric ICU at Memorial Hermann Hospital, she was on the cover of the hospital Horizons Magazine. Allison and Denise were also featured in a Houston Chronical article and were on TV at the MDA Telethon in Houston.

Allison was the ultimate babysitter to many children. She owned and loved many fur babies. Her birthdays were always a party! She always had a theme and later had different characters in attendance because she loved to watch the little ones’ excitement. She was always on the go with shopping being her favorite thing to do. In later years though it became difficult for her to spend time in her wheelchair and became home bound. She loved movies and there were not many that she had not seen. Over the years, both Allison and Denise were cared for by their loving parents and many wonderful, loving doctors, nurses and caregivers. A few years ago, Allison decided she was done with hospitals and with any illness that came along she would insist she stay at home instead.

On Dec. 20, 2023, at the age of 40 years, she passed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ and was undoubtedly met by many family members who went before her led by her loving sister Denise Renea King.

Allison is preceded in death by Grandparents Patricia Smaistrla and Racy and Margaret King. Sister Denise Renea King and brother Sean Scarborough. Uncles and Aunts Alphonse Smaistrla Jr., Greg Smaistrla, Bruno E Nowak, Chris King and Carole J Nowak and cousins Bruno Nowak, Douglas W King, Jennifer Nowak.

Left behind to cherish her memory include her parents James G. King and Jacqueline and Gary Scarborough. Grandfather Alphonse Smaistrla. Aunts and Uncles Daephne and Randy Kresta, Dennis and Carolyn King, Karl and Tynia King and Janet King. Brothers Chris, Justin and Jeremy Scarborough. Cousins and Spouses: Sara and John Wind, Nicholas and Callie Kresta, Terri and Bobby Sagar, Richard and Minnie Green, Patrick and Jennifer King, Brian and Stacy King, Mary and Doug Staff, Erin and Kevin Sielhan, Ryan and Katie King, Leslie and Eric Quinnell, Matthew and Kesten King, Madeline and Tyler Colluro, Elyssa and Joshua Huggins.

And with very special sincere thank you to all the wonderful caregivers, loving nurses, and doctors that have cared for Allison and Denise over the last 40 years. To our extended family and close friends, thank you for holding our hands, the many hugs, and caring for our hearts during this time.
