San Felipe de Austin reaches Bicentennial Milestone

In 1823, Stephen F. Austin brought the first American colonists to the Tejas region of Mexico, selecting the town of San Felipe to initially settle down.
BREAKING: County warns of vehicle thefts in area

In the past week, Austin County has experienced four vehicle thefts in various parts of the county. All of the vehicles were either Ford or Dodge heavy duty trucks.
These thefts all occurred between 2-5 a.m. To date, one of the vehicles was recovered in Colorado County.
Several of the stolen vehicles had the key fob in the vehicles while parked at the residences. This makes it very easy to steal the vehicle and its contents.
SEASON BEGINS

Sealy opened its 2023 season with a home contest against Kempner and now will participate in the Columbus tournament Aug. 10-12 Caroline Owen is taking over the reins of the program at Sealy after serving two years coaching at the junior high and the last three at the high school.
Austin County law enforcement hosts active shooter training

Austin County law enforcement and emergency response agencies held an active shooter training drill at Bellville Junior High School on June 15. With the recent increase and onslaught of school shootings across the country, the drill was conducted to help better educate students and staff on what to do and expect in case of a tragic situation like this.
