Body

Louis James Marusik passed away suddenly Sept. 10, 2024, at his home in Greensboro, NC. He was born Feb. 1, 1949, in Sealy, to Joe N. and Annie (Zaskoda) Marusik. He first attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School (go, Bluejays!) and graduated from Sealy High School in 1968. Louis served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, then began a long career in the precast concrete products field, managing plants in Virginia, Florida, Texas, Oregon and North Carolina. He retired in 2015 from Smith-Midland in Reidsville, NC.

During retirement, Louis loved frequent visits with family and friends and never met a stranger, striking up a conversation and making new friends everywhere he went. He traveled the world and enjoyed the game of golf above all else – playing several times a week with the Bryan Park Senior Men’s Golf Association in Greensboro; cherished his 20-year annual tradition of Oregon golf week with U.S. Navy buddies; and always brought his golf clubs to play at different courses around the country and when visiting Texas.

He is survived by sisters Rose (Harold) Peikert of El Campo, T; Mary Marusik of Houston; Elizabeth (John Jr.) Ray of Houston; brothers David “Rusty” Rice of Danbury; Joe (Betty) Marusik of Sealy; nieces Nancy Peikert of El Campo; Kristin (Christopher) Frediani of Round Rock; Jennifer Marusik; aunt Lucille Quinones of Pantego; and numerous cousins. A military committal service will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

If the round should start without me because I have passed away Cherish the swings that we once made and please continue to play...
