BOBBY KOYM
BOBBY KOYM 1938- 2023
Bobby Koym of Sealy passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at the age of 84 surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born in New Bielau, TX. Dec. 3, 1938. The only child of Alfred Koym and Meta Breithaupt Koym.
When Bobby was 12, his cousin came home with him on the school bus with the intent to go into the woods. When they got into the woods, Bobby found the tractor had turned over on his dad. His mom was not home at the time. His childhood in New Bielau instilled a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing and the love of the outdoors. He often spent a week at the lake with his whole family including his children and spouses, grandchildren and spouses and great grandchildren.
He was a very talented man with the ability to fix/build many things without the help of a dad. Alfred’s relatives said Alfred was a man before his time. Bobby apparently inherited some of that talent. When our oldest child was in high school, several of his friends would come to our house on weekends and work on cars, play basketball, baseball or just visit.
Soon their girlfriends would come as well. One of the boys installed a spotlight so they could play basketball longer. Bobby even built a bucking barrel in our backyard for the boys. These individuals are now in their 60s now and many came to his funeral all these years later.
Bobby met his sweetheart, Jean Mazoch, at Weimar High School. They graduated in May 1957 and were married Aug. 1, 1959 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holoman, TX.
Bobby was a transport driver for Big Three Industries/Air Liquide from 1960 to 2001 when he retired. He traveled all over the U.S. and Canada.
He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Ron Alspaugh of Sealy, TX.
He is survived by Jean, his wife of more than 64 years; his children Dean (Denise) Koym of Caldwell, TX., Denise Alspaugh of Frydek, TX., Debra Koym of Katy, TX. And Darrin (Donna) Koym of Sealy, TX; his grandchildren Cody Henrichsen and wife Courtney of Mobile, AL., Erica Sanabria and husband Gary of Sealy, TX., Bobby Henrichsen and wife Samantha of Brookshire, TX., and Phillip Alspaugh of Magnolia, TX.; his great grandchildren Cash Henrichsen, Colbie Henrichsen and Case Henrichsen of Mobile, AL., Scarlett Henrichsen, Email Henrichsen of Brookshire, TX., Gage Alspaugh and Tyler Alspaugh of Magnolia, TX.
Visitation was held March 1 at Knesek Brothers Funeral Home in Sealy followed by the rosary recited by our dear friend Fawn Morgensen.
Funeral mass was held March 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, TX. A reception followed in the church hall.
Graveside services were held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Holman, TX.
Serving as cross bearer was Darrin Koym. Pallbearers were Dean Koym, Cody Henrichsen, Bobby Henrichsen, Phillip Alspaugh, Jerry French of Hockley, TX. and Tim Delmas of Sealy, TX. Don Koym followed behind the casket.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Mazoch of Weimar, TX., David Becak of Katy, TX., Gary Crawford of Weimar, TX. and Gary Sanabria of Sealy, TX.
The family wishes to thank Father Jonathan More’ for presiding over the mass and Deacon Bryant Chapman for officiating the graveside service and being kind and patient until our 95 and 92-year-old family members were seated.
We also wish to thank the entire ICC parish family for support and prayers during Bobby’s 10-year illness and a special thank you to Tim and Deronda Delmas for all their help during those years.
To my children, I could not have done it without you’ll.
