PATRICIA SUE TAYLOR CONNER
PATRICIA SUE TAYLOR CONNER
With profound sadness, the family of Patricia Sue Taylor Conner, 78, of Huntsville, announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister. She went to our Lord peacefully at her home, with family by her side, on the morning of February 25, 2025. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., April 12, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville Alabama, followed by a graveside service at Poplar Springs cemetery in Uriah, Alabama.
Sue came into this world on Oct. 9, 1946, as a strong and passionate Native American. In her passing, we find joy and peace, knowing she found her calling in her family and community, helping others. Preceding her in death were her parents Herbert Lee Taylor and Mary Webb Taylor. As a young girl, she attended Odessa High School where she learned to play the clarinet. She returned throughout her life to Alabama to visit family and friends.
Sue began her career in Odessa Texas as a waitress. Offering a smile and an ear, she was everyone’s favorite.
She worked at Panamerican Mexican Food restaurant in San Antonio Tx, where she found her gift of giving to others. Her joy of offering a happy face was witnessed by everyone. Her casual way of making everyone feel at home was also her gift, and she was never too busy for it. Her humor helped so many people grin, and when we remember her, we smile as well. Meeting famous people never impressed her, everyone was the same. She had her favorites, but only she knew who they were. She simply offered kindness and compassion no matter who they were, or what they did.
She also had a deep passion for antiques and owned Conner’s Walk About, then opened an antique store/ resale shop in Sealy, TX which she operated for several years.
While in Sealy she really bloomed volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce, women’s and children’s shelters and other various organizations. She was an organizer there, where so many people passed through her life. She once organized a film casting party where met and admired Frederic Forrest, who played Blue Duck in Lonesome Dove and Jean Stapleton of Archie. People were simply people to her, which we were so proud to witness and learn from.
In her last few years Mr. Loving, her chaplain, would come by and visit with her. They would sit out on the front porch watching the activities of the street and have good conversations. He laughed as he once said, “one thing I learned fast about you Ms. Conner, is your yes’s mean yes, and your no’s mean no”.
She is preceded in death also by her husband of almost 47 years J.O. (Chuck) Conner, stepson Chet Leon Conner, her parents, and brother Herbert Lee Jr.
She is survived by stepson son Jeffrey Conner and wife, Trudi, of Hewitt: daughter Tina Knighten and husband, Ron, of Huntsville; son, Derick Conner and wife Joycelyn of Sealy; and her sister Zonda Faye Ousley Harris of Harrah, Oklahoma. Also included are Mimi’s joyous grandchildren, Jenna Conner, Bryce Conner, Carli Conner, Kaylee Knighten Minson and husband Jonathan Minson, Hagen Knighten, Jordan Conner, Zeniyah Hill, and Cinch Conner. She leaves behind a continuously growing group of great grandchildren as well. We also acknowledge a very special recognition to Kris Brown who was like another grandchild to Sue and Chuck.
