Brazos ISD Superintendent Scott Rogers presented two updated teacher pay scale recommendations to the board during March 23’s regular meeting of the Brazos ISD Board of Trustees based on a discussion from the previous meeting.

Due to projected budget availability and BISD’s wage gap with other districts in the 0-10 salary range, the board expressed comfort with the 2% budget increase option from the midpoint but wishes to reduce the wage gap. The pay scale will be further developed based on this information by Rogers and the staff. At the board meeting in April, a decision will be taken on the pay scale.

Board Secretary Matt Demny moved with a second by Board Vice President Dale Divin to cancel the May 7 Board of Trustee Election and Special Election. No candidates ran against Tiffani Shirley for Position 6, Brian Demny for Position 7 or Justin Richardson for Position 3. The motion passed unanimously.

The board unanimously approved the probationary contract for Stefani Crosby as the Special Education Director for the remainder of the 2021-2022 and 2022- 2023 school years following a closed session and motions by Shirley and Divin.

DAEP teacher David Benbow will be hired as a DAEP teacher for the remainder of the 2021- 2022 school year after a motion passed by Demny with a second by Board Member Tammy McCain.

A review of the Gallup Student Survey results was conducted between the board and Rogers. The Gallup Student Poll measures students’ engagement, hope, entrepreneurial aspirations, career and financial literacy through interviews conducted via the web. It was requested that Rogers use the information to improve student outcomes. Rogers explained that the information would be used for updating the District Improvement Plan and Campus Improvement Plan.
