Sealy senior Luke Kovar signed his commitment to play baseball for the Arlington Baptist Patriots during a March 2 ceremony in the high school gym foyer.

Kovar was joined by family, friends, classmates and teammates in signing the dotted line.

“I didn’t even expect all these people to come, my mom is awesome she got everybody to come, the team was here, it was awesome,” Kovar said. “I’m very thankful to my family and friends that came and showed support.”

The senior pitcher/corner infielder said he landed on the school because of the opportunities for playing time while pursuing a business degree.

Before he puts on a Patriots uniform, however, he has one more season in black and gold for the Sealy Tigers.

“We’re going to have a pretty good season, been doing pretty well so far,” Kovar said Wednesday. “We just beat a top team last week, I think we’re going to do well this year.”
