Carla Dycus, 81, passed away peacefully

on Jan. 11, 2026.

Carla Marie McClung was born on Feb. 16, 1944, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston to Lyle and Rose McClung. She grew up in southeast Houston with her younger siblings, Diane and Lyle Wayne. Carla graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in Houston and attended Sam Houston State in Huntsville where she met her future husband, Dale Dycus.

Carla worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry in downtown Houston before marrying Dale and moving to Sealy, his hometown, where they raised their three children. To the family, Carla was known as “Sweet Mimi” aka “Meems.” And family was everything to Mimi. She treasured time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations with family were her favorite times of year.

Meems loved animals and learning about all of God’s creatures. Carla’s faith in God was paramount to her.

Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Dycus, and her parents, Lyle and Rose McClung. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Dycus) Janczak and husband Jay Janczak; Charles Dycus and wife Tina Dycus; and Jonah Dycus and wife Coby Dycus; and grandchildren Chase Janczak and wife Megan Janczak; Julia Janczak; Madison Dycus; Paul Dycus, Hunter Dycus and Matthew Dycus; and great-grandchildren Madelyn and J.J. Janczak.

A private memorial service for the family was held for Carla at Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy on Jan. 15.

The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Caydance Assisted Living in Katy, the nurses on the 5th floor/East Tower of Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and Bayou City Hospice for their compassion, kindness and care for “Sweet Mimi.”
