JOHN M CAMPOS
01-23-1940 to 10-31-2025 John M Campos of Sealy, TX passed away at home at the age of 85 on October 31, 2025.
He was born on January 23, 1940, in Burnet, TX to Gilbert and Lenora Campos.
He was raised in Burnet, TX until about 1953 when he moved to Sealy, TX where he graduated high school in 1959. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and upon honorable discharge, he joined Houston Police Department on May 20, 1963, as a Police Officer. After 11 years as a street officer, in 1974, he became a member of the first Houston Police SWAT team where he remained as a Team Lead until, he retired on July 10, 1999. In 1999, after retirement from HPD, he was approached by the City of Sealy to become a Municipal Judge. He served his community of Sealy until 2022 when he finally decided to lay down his gavel and re-tire again.
John liked to travel all over Mexico and try exotic foods for the region. He loved to barbecue in the backyard for his family and beloved dogs who considered him a Pitmaster. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed the hunting season with his sons, grandsons and extended family taking many trips around Texas and Colorado.
John was preceded in death by his son, David Campos, parents Gilbert and Lenora Campos, and six brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Romelia “Romey” Campos, his son and daughterin- law, Ricardo “Anthony” and Valarie Campos, his son and daughter-in-law Sergio and Piper Campos, grandchildren Ethan, Michael, Nicholas, Gabriel, Kyle and Kelsey and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:30 am, followed by rosary and funeral service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 Fourth Street, Sealy, TX 77474. A graveside side service at the Parish Cemetery, 811 Main Street, Sealy, TX 77474 immediately following the service.
