During the June 28 meeting of Austin County Commissioners Court, an interlocal agreement with the City of Sealy was approved and put an end to a long-standing debate between the two entities regarding drainage in the Bullinger Creek Subdivision.

County Judge Tim Lapham said the court approved the interlocal agreement for a reason.

“So that the City of Sealy is in charge of the drainage for that (area) as well. That subdivision is going to be annexed into the city before they build any houses,” Lapham said. “It would just make sense to let them handle all parts of it, so the developers only have one person to report to.”

The topic of an interlocal agreement between the City of Sealy and Austin County has been a topic since before the May 24 meeting.

During May’s second regular meeting, the court received a letter from the City of Sealy that said no homes would be built in the Bullinger Creek development before homes were sold and other information regarding the interlocal agreement was provided.

Commissioners court did not approve a plat and drainage approval for the Aguado Subdivision.

“We are still waiting on some documentation for that,” Lapham said.
