Last Wednesday afternoon, the Austin County Sheriffs Office announced an arrest that ended a months-long investigation into drug and weapon trafficking. Wesley Connell was arrested Wednesday morning on drug trafficking and federal weapons charges in Sheridan and Pedro Cortez was arrested on charges related to the investigation in Eagle Lake.

At the February board meeting, the Austin County Fair Association honored Directors for length of service to the community. Directors work year-round dedicating numerous hours in order to prepare for the annual county fair. This year we will host the 94 Annual Austin County Fair October 8th — 17th.
