Five cars were reportedly broken into at Apex Stone in San Felipe Wednesday between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. according to owner Justin Jackson.

Thursday evening, Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said the department responded to a call at 4:45 p.m. where multiple cars were broken into at Apex Stone. Evidence and reports were handed over to the San Felipe Police Department which was handling the investigation.

Jackson said in a Wednesday night interview that the break-ins happened earlier that afternoon in broad daylight and wanted the community to be on alert.

“In our parking lot, we have people coming in and out all the time; we have machines and people in the yard, we're going in and out of the office with people in the yard. We had five vehicles broken into, three of which the back windows were broken,” Jackson said. “They went through five vehicles in the middle of the day – and we're active and we're out there with people coming in and out. … I think everybody should know and I want people to be on the lookout.”

Among the items that were taken, Jackson said a purse and a handgun were reported stolen.

“It's in the middle of the day at their place of work, you never would have thought twice about, 'Hey what are you leaving in the car,' it's not like it was at a mall,” Jackson said. “This seems to be a pretty safe place, it's not like we're in a bad part of town, we're kind of out by ourselves.”
