County follows Texas' lead in March primary
The unofficial results from the March primary election showed that Austin County voters followed along with the state’s lead on a majority of the state-wide races
Looking at the unofficial results, numbers showed:
In the race for Rep. U.S. Representative District 27, Mike Cloud received 2,637 votes to Chris Hatley’s 1,469 votes
In the highly contested attorney general’s race, Austin County votes favored Mayes Middleton with 1,548 votes to Chip Roy’s 1,442 votes and Aaron Reitz’ 1,058 votes.
In the race for Texas Comptroller, Austin County votes favored Don Huffines with 2,590 votes to Kelly Hancock’s 1,432 votes.
For the Commissioner of Agriculture, Austin County votes slightly favored Nate Sheets with 2,398 votes to incumbent Sid Miller’s 2,121 votes.
In the State Representative District 85’s race, county voters favored Dennis “Goose” Geesaman with 2,764 votes to incumbent Stan Kitzman’s 1,933 votes.
In the two county contested races, in the race for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, county voters favored Connie Drake with 595 votes to Jeffrey Grobe’s 284 votes.
In the race of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, Bernice Burger held a slim lead over Joseph Smith with 543 votes to Smith’s 469 votes.
