This past year, the Brazos Cougars posted an impressive 9-4 record on the football field. The Cougars have followed that up this summer with a state berth in the seven-on-seven tournament in College Station.

Paying for my medications twice: Texas law needed to protect patients

Iwas only 10 years old the first time I went to the hospital with severe head pain, uncontrollable vomiting, and visual disturbances with complete blindness in my left eye. Driving four hours to Dallas from my home in Abilene was my family’s only option if I wanted to see a pediatric neurologist after being diagnosed with chronic migraine. It was a sacrifice of time, but necessary for my health. More than 35 years later, managing this illness, several co-morbid conditions, caring for my family, and working is a lot to juggle, physically, emotionally, and financially. I pay what I owe, but I was livid when I realized that fine print in my insurance contract was causing me to pay my deductible twice.

Move on to Sectional play July 2 in Schulenburg Sealy Junior Boys LL All Stars stole the lead late in the game in a 19-15 victory over Lee County Jr boys 2023 ALLSTARS. The game was tied at 15 with Sealy Junior Boys LL All Stars batting in the top of the seventh when Weston Cryan, Romeo Castillo and Reese Reichardt had consecutive hits to take the lead for good.
We daydream about shade, cool drink this time of year

O ur day is filled with heat at this time of year. It commands our attention and makes our work harder. As we toil, we daydream not about love or success, but things as mundane as shade and a cool drink.

First Lady Cecilia Abbott celebrated the critical role women business leaders and entrepreneurs play in Texas’ economic success at the Round Rock Chamber’s inaugural “Women Who Mean Business” luncheon. Addressing more than 150 business and community leaders, the First Lady highlighted Texas’ 1.25 million women-owned businesses as a driving force of the state’s economy and encouraged women to invest in themselves, their businesses, and communities to inspire the next generation of Texas women.
Always company when visiting mom

Ispent the week visiting my parents at their retirement home “up north,” and so I got to see them and my mother’s outside pet, Stubby, the red squirrel. I hadn’t seen Stubby since last winter, when he had made an elaborate network of tunnels in the deep snow outside my parents’ window facing the lake.
