Charlene Janda, born in Houston, Texas, on March 11, 1947 passed into the loving arms of God on Dec. 4, 2020. Charlene was an exceptional woman, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
MARY ETTA LAYDEN

Mary Etta Layden (nee Grandys) of Sealy, Texas, (formally of Bonne Terre, Mo.) passed away on Dec. 4, 2020. She was born in Crown Point, Ind., to Francis and Mary Grandys on Nov. 5, 1937. She was wed to Joseph W. Layden on Feb. 8, 1958.
Lady Tigers return to win column

The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad finished last week with only one road contest instead of two after Boling canceled the Saturday tilt but last Friday’s trip to East Bernard ended with Sealy back in the win column by a 41-36 score to move to 4-4 overall on the season.
Lady Tigers close preseason

Sealy senior Destinee Castillo advances the ball in a district game against Columbus at T.J. Mills Stadium on Feb. 17. In their lone scrimmage of the preseason, the Lady Tiger soccer team went on the road and returned with a 3-2 win over the Splendora Wildcats Monday night. Sealy’s regular season begins after the holiday break on Jan. 5 at home against Giddings and the Lady Tigers will kick off their district slate on Jan. 22 in Hempstead. Cole McNanna
Brahmas receive academic all-state

As announced by the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Army National Guard, eight members of the Bellville football team were honored with academic all-state distinction on Dec. 10 for their work in the classroom and on the field.
