In response to the 2020 census, the Blinn College District Board of Trustees adopted a redistricting resolution and map that aligns with the Washington County commissioner’s precinct map. Blinn has a long history of adopting trustee precincts identical to Washington County’s four commissioner precincts.

Beverlea Geraldean Knight, age 85, of San Felipe, Texas passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, in Katy, Texas. Beverlea was born May 23, 1937, to Glen and Louise Leadford in Licking, Missouri. She attended the Licking schools and graduated in 1955. In 1961, she and her first husband, Leroy Keaton, moved to Texas and left their beloved State of Missouri.

After finishing the season with a 26-16 record and a 9-5 mark in district, the Sealy Lady Tigers placed five players on the District 25-4A all district teams that were announced recently. Annabelle Williams led the way for Sealy with a first-team selection.

The Sealy Lady Tigers basketball squad is off to a 4-4 start to the 202223 season under the direction of Brateicka Mock, head coach for the team this year. As you all know basketball season is now in full swing.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that six Texas organizations will receive $3,050,010 from President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and American Rescue Plan to enhance air quality monitoring in marginalized communities. The project is focused on communities that are underserved, historically marginalized, and overburdened by pollution, supporting President Biden’s Justice40 Initiative.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) commissioned 76 new Texas Highway Patrol Troopers from recruit class B-2022 during a graduation ceremony on Friday, May 6. The keynote speaker at the graduation was Russell S. Molina, the Director of the Texas Ranger Bicentennial.

Areport submitted to state leaders ahead of the 88th legislative session’s opening in January urges lawmakers to develop “an innovative new model” to fund community colleges. The Texas Commission on Community College Finance, established last year by the Legislature and consisting of 12 lawmakers, business leaders and community-college leaders, offered three sets of recommendations for supporting the state’s strategic plan for higher education: • Reward community colleges for positive student outcomes • Increase affordability and financial aid • Increase capacity at colleges to meet changing workforce needs The commission also recommended the state make community colleges more affordable by increasing financial aid provided by the state, more aid for dual-credit courses and supporting work-based educational opportunities, such as internships and apprenticeships.
