WALTER GRADY STAGG, JR.

Walter Grady Stagg, Jr., 77, Of Cat Spring, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday July 22, 2022, in Cat Spring, Texas. Walter was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 2, 1945, the son of Walter Grady Stagg, Sr., and Dora Frances Stagg. In 1963, after graduating from Hueytown High School in Hueytown, Alabama, Walter enlisted in the U.S. Marines. Before his Honorable Discharge, he received a badge for a M-14 Rifle Sharpshooting and a Good Conduct Medal. He became an Aircraft Mechanic, his specialty being the 6412 Aircraft Jet Engine. He had taken two courses while in the Marines, the first was MarMech Fund School and then the Aviation Mach Mate (Jet) School. Walter proudly served his country and was discharged on April 19, 1966, and was in the reserves until September 1971. Walter enjoyed music, especially the Blues, telling jokes and riding open roads on his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Quick) Stagg; son, Walter “Tripp” Grady Stagg lll and Sarah of Cat Spring, Texas; daughter, Crissy (Stagg) Moore of Bellville, Texas; grandchildren: Lisa Carlile and husband, Chris of Katy, Texas; Justin Moore and fiancé, Sarah of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren: Remi Carlile and Chloe Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Joel Stagg. A celebration of life will be held for Walter on August 27, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 7IL Ranch, 5389 Mill Creek Road, Cat Spring, Texas 78933. DEBRA CECILIA LEZAK HAIDUSEK

Debra Cecilia Lezak Haidusek was born on January 22, 1955 in Bellville, Texas to Bob and Madine (Krancher) Lezak. She was baptized in Frydek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Deb attended Frydek Catholic School, Frydek Public School and Sealy High School where she graduated in 1972. She worked for Shell Oil Company for 22 years. On July 2, 1977, Deb was joined in marriage to Patrick “Rick” Haidusek.

EMILY PULOS PREIBISCH

Emily Pulos Preibisch passed away at Colonial Living and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Sealy, Texas on July 29, 2022, at the age of 104. Emily was born on November 26, 1917, in Brockton, MA to Alex and Josephine (Silva) Pulos. She graduated from Carny Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA in 1940. Upon graduation, Emily was hired to supervise a surgical floor at the same hospital. After one year, she was hired as Operation Nurse for Cory Hill Hospital with Lahey Clinic surgeons.

Helen Melnar Ondruch, 88, of Wallis passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2022, in Katy, Texas. She was born in Wallis on May 31, 1934, to parents Alfonse J and Mary Stavinoha Melnar. She lived her entire life here where she attended Guardian Angel Catholic School & Wallis public school.

LOUISE LUMMUS KUCHARA

Louise Lummus Kuchara passed away July 15, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born March 26, 1928, in Waco, Texas to parents J. G. Lummus Sr. and Myrtle Haley Lummus. She enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors and in her younger years hunting, fishing, and shrimping with her husband. She always had a smile on her face and loved everyone. She retired from Levine Brothers in Sealy, Texas where she worked for over 20 years. Louise was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Woodmen of the World.

MYRTLE KUEHN VIERECK

In Loving Remembrance Myrtle Kuehn Viereck, age 95, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 in Baytown, Texas. She was born in Sealy, Texas to Arnold and Lillie Kuehn on November 21, 1926. She went to school in a little country school called Peters Hacienda, then on to Sealy High School where she graduated in 1944. She was baptized in Sealy and was a long-time active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church since 1957. She married Gilbert Viereck in 1947 and moved to Baytown where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gilbert, in 1993; and son Craig, in 1981.

CHARLEY EMIL JANIK

Charley Emil Janik was born October 4, 1925, in Jourdanton, Texas, the third child to Emil Joe and Sophie (Sindel) Janik. At age four, the family moved from Jourdanton to East Bernard, Texas, where he continued to live throughout the rest of his childhood. While attending East Bernard High School, he worked for Koym’s Feed Store after school and on weekends as well as delivering the Houston Chronicle, and Press and Post newspapers. He also worked the summer before his junior year of high school at the Stearn and Rogers Company in Lissie, Texas.

Sylvia Rossler Giammalva, born December 7, 1937, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Florence Rossler and Louis Rossler, and brother Louis “Honkey” Rossler, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Saverio Vincent Giammalva; daughters Jana Giammalva, Risse Knight (Kevin), and Victoria Minton (Jarrett); grandchildren Mary Alex Knight Mizell (Carter), Meredith Knight, Melanie Knight, David Minton, Thomas Minton, and Elizabeth Minton; great-grandson Reeves Mizell; and childhood friend Wanda Schaffner; along with many nieces and nephews.
