The Faith Academy Knight basketball team collected its second win of the season sandwiched in between two losses during last week’s play. Faith Academy lost to School of the Woods 57-32 last Tuesday, beat True North 68-46 Thursday then closed with a 72-35 loss to Kingwood Covenant Prep Friday.
Austin County’s four high schools were well represented at state championships throughout the 2021 calendar year. From powerlifting, to track, to volleyball, to cross country, to football, locals competed against the best of the best this year.
With Faith Academy’s loss in the TAIAO six-man football state championship, the fall sports season around Austin County has officially come to a close. As The Sealy News accurately predicted in the fall sports preview magazine, plenty of postseason success and trophies returned to Austin County from playoff runs started in Bellville, Sealy and Wallis.
Four years removed from not fielding a team due to a lack of participation, the Faith Academy Knights fell just short of a state championship against the Northside Lions last Saturday afternoon at Allen Academy’s Baker Field in Bryan with a 63-54 final score in the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organization’s (TAIAO) 6-man Division 2 final.
The Faith Academy Cross Country Team “Saved the BEST for Last.” They ran in their final regularseason meet Saturday, Oct. 23, at Covenant Christian in Conroe. The course was on the school’s campus where runners made multiple loops around the mostly grass terrain that took them into a nice shaded tree-lined trail and then over a few small rolling moguls. Seventeen schools were represented in the eight divisional races.
The Faith Academy Knight football squad hosted its homecoming contest last Friday at SAB Stadium in Bellville against the Texas Christian Tigers. The hosts scored on their first possession of the game, on an 18-yard pass from the Figueroa-brother combination of sophomore quarterback Noah to senior receiver Nathan, and never looked back to help build a 56-19 win.
