Sealy High School holds awards night

The Sealy High School athletics department held its annual awards night at Thomas E. Golson Auditorium last Monday, May 16. Achievements recognized ranged from honorable mention, Academic All-State, regional and state qualifiers, as well as All-Americans. Many of these athletes were a large part of the success of Sealy athletics during their four-year tenure.

One Act, Back to Back

The Sealy High School One Act Play group reached state competition for the second year in a row and won district for the 45th time. Ecstatic, they got to celebrate the announcement in their home auditorium, via zoom with the contest manager. This was quite the turnaround for a program that didn’t survive districts two years prior.

Harrington to play basketball at Southwestern University

Republican candidate chosen

The unofficial results for the May 24 election have been announced. The only Austin County race in this election was a run-off for the Republican candidate who will run to be the Texas State Representative for District 85 in November.

Voters chose Stan Kitzman, who received 8,134 votes, over incumbent Phil W. Stephenson, who received 5,891 votes, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office. The newly elected candidate was formerly a Waller County Commissioner.
