The Texas House approved an elections bill Friday along party lines with 21 Democrats declining to participate. The bill, slightly different from previously passed Senate legislation, now heads to a conference committee that will negotiate a final version.

The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site recently welcomed a Ramage style recreated printing press to its new permanent home at the log cabin Texas Gazette printing office in the Villa de Austin. Builder and collector John Horn donated the wooden printing press from his personal collection after years of persistent communication from Michael Moore, the Contracted Construction Manager for the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission.

Buffalo roamed much of the United States in the 1600s and 1700s, ranging from the Rocky Mountains to Pennsylvania and Georgia, and from northern Canada to northern Mexico. Estimated to number between 30 and 50 million in the 1600s, the herds dwindled very rapidly from 1720 through the 1800s.

“The boat or ship’s wake always reaches the shore long after the vessel has passed.” In this case, the SHIP is the recent growth the city has experienced and the WAKE is the lack of infrastructure to support this growth.

Assuming the average school year is 169 days and the average parent spends 15 minutes per trip (this is being generous), then parents spend approximately 5,070 minutes per year in car line. I’ve spent approximately 1,859 HOURS of my life in car line. I could talk about car line for days.
